Moleskine Madness...Seven and Five!

The window was open and a soft cool breeze fluttered into the room.
She turned in the bed and he was gone.
He had left. She looked at the clock.
It was three. Three in the morning.
And he was gone.
She was disappointed and upset.
He usually stayed until five when the baby woke up.
She liked it when he looked in on her and the baby.
It gave her the feeling of being complete.
That wouldn't happen this morning.

Have a sneaky Sunday!

Moleskine Madness...U Little Imp!

It was possibly the smallest visitor that he ever had in the house.
Barely three feet and three inches tall in its stocking feet.
But, it never wore stockings. Or clothes of any sort.
Nothing but those peculiar horned rim glasses.
That made it look professorial and partially like a beatnik
that had awoke on the floor in some bohemian flat.
Also it only spoke in riddles.
Confusing rhymes that were like a religious chant.
Most importantly and unpredictably, he had accepted it.
This bizarre houseguest, as a friend.

Have a salty Saturday!

Moleskine Madness....Big Times!

He looked at the sardines on his plate.
They had been swimming happily out in the blue green deep tides.
Only hours before.
Now they were on his plate.
Just protein and minerals. A dead carcass.
And he would eat them.
He looked around at the other patrons in the cafe.
Would he eat them?
Or would they eat him?
He took a sip of his wine.
Perhaps if he lived to a ripe old age; the grapevine would eventually feed on him.
Just protein and minerals. A dead carcass.

Have a fearless Friday!

Moleskine Madness...Boiled Prunes!

If she ever changed her mind.
He would take her back.
If she ever changed her mind.
She knew it and her mind was closed and locked.
Even the memories were fading as she moved through her life.
Thinking of the fat happy grandchildren in her future.
But, he knew that when the time came; the end of her time came.
As her fat happy grandchildren kissed her goodbye.
One day in her future, her last thoughts would be of him.
And the regret that she never changed her mind.
And that he would have taken her back.
And forward.

Have a thought-provoking Thursday!

Moleskine Madness...Plein Air!

The images were only representational illusions of things that had past.
Widows, orphans, and dogs that were lost.
Unfounded. Unbounded. Unpounded.
Only the image remained.
And that would be gone too. One day. Some day.
Where did they live?
What did they eat?
Whom did they love?
Winds and train whistles blow sweet somber serenity into the lonely night.

Have a witty Wednesday!

Moleskine Madness...Intrepid Wishes!

Why did he always stop and talk to her?
She replied in monotone sentences that reeked of disdain and slight disgust.
At lunch she often thought of dismembering him piece by piece while she ate her roast chicken.
She did enjoy the roast chicken. And the chocolate cake.
Or was that the Tiramisu?
She was often confused by bakery goods.
He said something and laughed. Then walked out of her cubicle.
She thought again of the chocolate cake and smiled.

Have a trendy Tuesday!

Moleskine Madness...Weekly Dues!

It was only a brief touch or gaze into the eyes but, it gave him the quick intuitive realization he needed.
She didn't even know what had happened.
He knew that they never would admit that the scan took place.
If they did, someone would only call them crazy and no one wanted that.
Everything was perfectly logical in this century.
Perfectly logical and explainable by science.
He knew that this was not entirely true and used it to his advantage.

Have a magical and mysterious Monday!

Moleskine Madness...Fond Quips!

If something was offered and never taken, did the infinite equation alter in curves?
Did the curves take forms of angels that sent the waves of emotion to ends of burnt flesh?
Smells of effervescent odes were clues to the rads tome in crime.
Moving the garden gates in olden bright canes.
It was never the time to walk the narrow with crates of cheese.
And offerings were forever narrow with chase.

Have a slight Sunday!

Moleskine Madness...Moon Rocks!

Sudden joy arrived in the box that was left at the back door.
It was what they had always been waiting for and it stank with middle class opulence.
The cream of what had been was a new thing in the hands of the house and ware.
Would it make them better in the sight of the wise old owl that purred in the shack by the gate?
They never considered the answer.
The box was in their house and it would never leave as long as they consumed the gravy.
The fear was gone and he rocks would sing in long and straight nights.

Have a satirical Saturday!

Moleskine Madness...Earthly Calm!

The fish were fresh and the phone rang in an unreconciled notion.
She answered and it was him.
She wanted to talk to him but, had resisted for reasons that were strained and pulled.
He asked her to meet him. Why was it always coffee?
Like it was some secret code for this thing that haunted her.
This thing that reached into her heart with passionate fate
The thing of hot red jello chili sauce that became her picante soul.

Have a fateful Friday!

Moleskine Madness...Incensed!

The old house was dark and smelled of things left unsaid.
She walked through the hall and felt the future in the photos of the past.
The frames lined the hall in symmetrical order.
It had a sense of the unholy and the untouched by human hands.
Pictures of people that were happy before the entropy of soul came for them.
Now they were somewhere different.
Somewhere very cold and distant.

Have a theatrical Thursday!

Moleskine Madness...Robo Lube!

The machines had been unplugged from the mains for an hour now.
The production floor was quiet. The maintenance contractors had just arrived.
Technicians in white coats never really impressed him.
They had doctor envy.
He pulled his bowl of rice from the microwave and plunged his chopsticks into it.
Taking a scoop into his mouth; he burned his tongue and quickly swallowed.
He turned towards the large apparatus in front of him.
It was open; revealing its shiny aluminum and steel innards.
A technician squeezed out an obscene amount of clear gooey substance from a tube.
Then spread it on the naked and rough parts.
He was correct.
It was doctor envy.

Have a wild Wednesday!

Moleskine Madness...Cake and Pie!

It was just an empty and hollow feeling deep in the pit of his chest.
The old dance of between the now and then.
Everytime he thought of her.
Leaving him with nothing but anguish and disillusion.
Where was the sweet reassurance of crash and yellow rain?

Have a tricky Tuesday!

Monday, August 18, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Stuck Up!

She stared at the spreadsheets on her monitor.
The cubicles on the floor were quiet and she felt a twinge in her chest.
She knew it was the feeling of loss in her heart and not gas.
He was gone.
She had helped to do it.
She knew his love was true and passionate and she didn't want him near.
It was her choice but, the feeling lingered.
 She straightened her back.
No, it was always her choice and she was never wrong about these things.
It was always her choice and she made sure of that.

Have a matched Monday!

Moleskine Madness...Old Gumbo!

She was angry because the soup was cold.
She didn't like cold soup and he was getting on her nerves sitting there at the computer.
He was filling out forms and moving at a quick pace that irritated her.
"My soup is cold." She said.
"It's Gazpacho." He replied not looking up.
"Oh." She said. "It's one of your new gourmet things."
He let out a sigh.
He was angry because she wasn't the sophisticated woman he wanted.
She coughed and slurped the soup.
"I don't think that I have a soul." She said.
"It doesn't matter as long as you have a heart." He said.
She smiled and walked back into the kitchen.

Have a super Saturday!

Friday, August 15, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Green Rice!

She opened the box.
The frozen french fries poked out at her precariously suggestive and naked.
"This is the last time that I do this." She said.
She spread the potato sticks onto a frequently used baking sheet; then turned to preheat the oven.
She heard a poof of gas igniting and then a gentle squeak.
She shook her head. "What the heck?"
She pulled the oven door and peered inside as the cat leapt into the kitchen!
Flat on the floor and shaking like a blender.
"Should've had the rice." She mumbled.
She looked at the dancing feline and suddenly realized.
It wasn't her cat.

Have a furry Friday!

Moleskine Madness...No Shoes!

The sand felt hot under her feet as she sprinted across the stretch of beach.
As she made her entrance into the shoreline, the sound of the waves overtook her.
Carrying her into memories of people long since passed.
There were voices dancing in the waves. They called her to join them.
She resisted. She knew the Sirens song.
She had heard it before.
The salt water bathed and swept across her toes in cool blue wings.
She knew that for better or worse, her life would be very long.

Have a thirsty Thursday!

Moleskine Madness...Eye Am!

He took a sip of his soda and let out a sigh.
She was gone and he wondered if she had ever cared for him?
He thought of those eyes.
Those Sophia Loren eyes that flashed with such insight into the human condition.
The eyes that he could never get away from.
They were part of his soul now. Always in his heart.
He wondered did she think of him?
Or was it easy for her to forget his eyes?
To disregard his sighs?

Have a wide open Wednesday!

Moleskine Madness...Take Out!

Where did those boxers come from?
He looked at the shorts that were a size to large for him.
"I didn't buy these." He mumbled to himself.
Then it struck him. She had been on a business trip last week.
"Could it be?" He voiced. "Did she?"
He was lost as the blue electricity of thoughts and betrayal swallowed his soul and darkened his heart.
There would be questions at the dining room table tonight.

Have a truthful Tuesday!

Moleskine Madness...Quite Done!

It was the horn section.
She knew it. They were blowing it.
And not in a good way.
She wanted to leave but, the rehearsal had become something of an event.
The percussionists were out back smoking Marlboro's with the reporters.
She tapped her foot. Then plucked the strings of her violin.
It made pleasant sounds.
She wanted a ham sandwich and a diet Pepsi.

Have a musical Monday!

Sunday, August 10, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Lonely Planet!

She was lost in the vacancy of the strawberry wine.
Her heart raced and left tread marks on the wide open slice of ham that managed to let itself in.
Eyes locked and rusted shut. No longer part of the field.
Who knew the blank stairs that would follow in the nights footsteps would be so enticing.

Have a seductive Sunday!

Saturday, August 9, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Double Waffles!

I awoke to
the chatter of the jays
got out
of bed
she made me a protein shake
blueberries and avocados
I sat at the table
and watched
the chatter of jays
I awoke to

Have a slender Saturday!

Moleskine Madness...Talk Talk!

The speech had been accepted and transcribed into the red clay.
What was said, did seem important and was to be saved and sold in parts.
For in time the strange twists that occur with age would remember the waves.
And all of the patriots would look up and smile at the stars and eat the moon like cheese.

Have a ferocious Friday!

Thursday, August 7, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Hot Feet!

The sun burst into the outer room with rays constant as the hour chime.
If it were three that would make it enough to be said.
Finally finding the ritual of the table cloth in counter clockwise unions is not wrong.
But, it is also not part of the stagnant tin cup that danced and frolicked on the edge of dark.

Have a terrific Thursday!

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Bad Words!

Touching the toes of the great lizard pot is the way to silent explosions of taste.
The heat of the fire becomes the air as it sends a message to the chase.
Grab for the unreachable in the face of correction and the piglet will curse the butterfly.
Ending the flutter and wave of the courtship dance.
It's easy as the crab cakes of her pout.

Have a whacked Wednesday!

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Trance Dance!

I have seen the monkeys dance.
In the sun of the evening ghost trees, by the river.
They pull off their ties and blow smoke into dark rye bowls and cry.
Drink from mugs meant for men.
Scratch themselves and make the red lie.

Have a truffle Tuesday!

Monday, August 4, 2014

Moleskine Madness...Fortune Cookie!

"What was in your head?" She asked with a nonchalant whimsy.
"Actually, most of the time it was about you." He replied.
She smiled. It pleased her to be in his thoughts. In his head.
"What was I doing when you were daydreaming about me?" She inquired chirpily.
"You were always smiling and giggling." He said.
"Then I probably should leave you." She said.
"It would make me sad." He replied. "Very sad but, you will always be in my dreams."
She sighed and knew that her fate was cast.
That the magic and tea could never be ignored.

Have a mysterious Monday!

Foto Phunday...Breakfast Bonanza!

The last day of Old Spanish Days Fiesta demands a special breakfast!
Scrambled eggs, sauteed bell peppers and onions, and I have left out the usual Chorizo for a healthier piece of smoked salmon.
Here is the raw ingredients.

And here is the delicious finished product.
A little fresh salsa and avocado and I'm in heaven!

Have a savory Sunday!

Foto Phunday...Fiesta 1959!

My grandmother looking like the Spanish lady that she was in 1959!

Again my grandmother with the friends from the Native Daughters of the Golden West.

Finally, the legendary Oxcart that they would ride in the Fiesta Parade for many years.

Have a siesta Saturday!

Moleskine Madness...Grave Meeting!

The dream arrived promptly at six o'clock.
Never bothering to knock, it rushed past the door and went straight for the kitchen.
The refrigerator was tired from running day and night; it wasn't about to give in to the whims.
It was a crowd of permanent markers that jumped to the beat.
Letting the wish become a fantasy.
Then finally a ghost.

Have a fearless Friday!
